May 2026 Weeding Ecotour

This week was amazing, with 26 people in total travelling to volunteer with conservation on Lord Howe Island.

Seventeen people enjoyed a week assisting the board – many of them new volunteers.

This Ecotour was arranged in February, when the island nature is more vibrant.

Ten volunteers enjoyed excellent weather for a productive and enjoyable week.

Twenty years after restoration started, the Sallywood swamp forest at Old Settlement is well established.

AABR is a very worthwhile organisation for anyone passionate about care of the native Australian bush.

The summer of 2023-2024 was the hottest on record at Lord Howe Island.

An endemic weevil, previously thought to be extinct, has been re-discovered — another testament to the benefits of the rat eradication program.
